about
The song was inspired by the band’s encounter with a celebrity a decade ago. Daniel said, “We met someone who was getting a hard time in the press and she turned out to be the sweetest, friendliest person you could imagine. It’s about the dramatic impact someone unexpected can have on your point of view“.
Recorded in just one day at The CustomSpace in South Shields (the same studio as their album “Hate, Love and Public Transport”) and produced by Harbourmaster. The release is truly a team effort with a music video by Daniel, cover by Kylie and a remix by John.
Squares plan to sporadically record and release new music, despite Daniel now living away from the others in Salford.
“2cm” will be available to download and stream at all major music services, with the video available on YouTube and Facebook.
lyrics
We shared a gesture, a short time together
We shared some feelings that were true
Our luck was slowing, you had a way of showing
A smile to turn us green from blue
And all because of
You, you were the one To help us carry on
You, you were the one To help us carry on
Two nights of sinful awkwardness made simple
One week has never felt so long
Communal offerings, our shell is softening
You had the nerve to say they’re wrong
But time just hurtles
On, on and on
You helped us carry on You, you were the one
To help us carry on
And your memory lingers on
Because you proved me wrong
Yeah, your memory lingers on
Because you proved me wrong
How you remind me of someone that I see
Indeed, most every single way
If someone said so, there’s no way to know
How could they know, you say we pay?
It’s in your little
Ways to make us stay
To help us carry on
You, you were the one
To help us carry on
And your memory lingers on
Because you proved me wrong
Your memory lingers on
Because you proved me wrong
Yeah, your memory lingers on
Because you proved me wrong
Yeah, your memory lingers on
Because you proved me wrong
